Wroclaw Wine Guide

Sommelier opening a natural wine bottle at a Wroclaw wine bar

The first glass of wine I drank in Wroclaw was a 2019 Gut Oggau Theodora at Niewinność — 42 PLN, poured into a laboratory beaker, handed to me by an owner who talked for fifteen minutes about why this particular Austrian producer mattered. I'd been to RAW London, I'd worked harvests in Burgundy, I'd tasted in cellars across three countries. And here was a wine bar in a Polish city I'd barely heard of, pouring bottles I'd had trouble finding in Paris. That was 2023. Wroclaw's wine scene has only gotten sharper since.

The Wine Bar Scene

Wroclaw's wine bars fall into three categories:

Our Top Picks

Niewinność Wine Bar

Natural Wine Bar Szewska, Old Town $$

Wroclaw's most intimate natural wine bar. The owner is always present, always happy to talk, and the wine is served in laboratory glass measures — a quirk that somehow becomes part of the charm. Natural wines from small producers, hot and cold tapas. TripAdvisor 4.9/5 with 220 reviews. A word of warning: the tapas are serviceable but not the reason to come — some reviewers note cheap cheeses. The wine is the star here.

Address: Szewska 27/27A
By the glass: 25-55 PLN
Specialty: Natural wine, lab glass service, chatty owner
Best for: Natural wine discovery, personal recommendations

Nowino

Natural Wine Bar Near Market Square $$

Formerly Kapka Wina, now under new ownership. Hidden in a courtyard near the Market Square, with a focus on French and Italian natural wines. Dog-friendly, walk-in friendly, and the hidden location gives every visit a feeling of discovery. The rebrand is still settling — the identity feels less defined than the old Kapka Wina days, and the staff rotation has been high. But the wine selection remains solid.

Address: Kiełbaśnicza area (hidden courtyard)
By the glass: 25-50 PLN
Hours: Mon-Thu 16:00-midnight, Fri-Sun 15:00-midnight
Best for: French and Italian natural wine, hidden courtyard

Cocofli

Bookshop-Wine Bar Włodkowica $$

Bookshop by day, wine bar by evening. Cocofli stocks Polish Lower Silesian wines alongside French, Italian, Spanish, and German classics — an unusual focus that reflects the growing interest in Polish wine production. Literary-intimate setting in the Four Temple District.

Address: ul. Włodkowica 9
By the glass: 20-45 PLN
Specialty: Lower Silesian wines, European classics
Best for: Polish wine discovery, quiet evenings

Polish Wine: The Emerging Scene

Poland isn't historically a wine country, but climate change and passionate producers are changing that. The best Polish wines come from the south, near the Slovak and Czech borders:

Are they world-class? Not yet. But they're interesting, improving rapidly, and worth trying for the curiosity alone. Ask at any of the natural wine bars — several stock Polish producers, and staff are happy to walk you through what's available.

If your Polish wine trip extends north to Gdańsk, Brut Bistro (Toruńska 25) is the city's essential natural wine destination — over 150 labels curated by Maciej Łyko, Poland's 2019 Sommelier Champion.

Wine Events & Tastings
